How much does Shopify charge per sale?

On the Basic plan, Shopify Payments charges 2.9% + 30¢ per online standard card order (2.7% + 30¢ on Grow, 2.5% + 30¢ on Advanced), plus the plan: $39/mo paid monthly or $29/mo paid yearly on Basic. A $40 online order on Basic costs $1.46 in payment fees. Using another payment provider adds a 2% Shopify fee on Basic.

Questions

Does Shopify charge a transaction fee?

Not when you use Shopify Payments; you pay the card rate instead. If you use a third-party payment provider, Shopify adds a third-party transaction fee (2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced) on top of what your provider charges.

Is it cheaper to pay for Shopify yearly?

Yes, on the listed prices. Basic is $29/mo paid yearly versus $39/mo paid monthly.

When does Grow beat Basic?
