How much does Etsy take per sale?

For a US seller, Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the order total. On a $25 item with $5 shipping that is $3.30, about 11.0%. Offsite Ads sales add 15% or 12%.

Questions

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping price you charge, and payment processing applies to the full order total.

Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on sales tax?

For US sellers, no. Etsy's fee policy says the transaction fee does not apply to sales tax for sellers in the US. Processing does apply to the total including tax.

Can I turn off Offsite Ads?

Shops that have always made under $10,000 in any 365-day period can opt out. Once a shop reaches $10,000, participation is required, at the lower 12% rate.

Are processing fees the same outside the US?

No. Etsy's processing fee varies by the country of your bank account. This calculator uses the US rate only.
